We Need You Alongside Us in This Fight for Free Speech

N ational Review is the conservative movement’s headquarters for America’s very best, distinctive reporting, analysis, and commentary on politics, from the campaign trail to the Senate hearing room.

Hey: Did we mention that we founded that conservative movement?

Each and every day, provides a necessary — and unique — take (with prose always sterling, smart, sane, witty, reliable, and profound) on critical political issues and key campaigns, from your state capital to the nation’s Capitol, from the primary hustings to the November ballot box . . . and to the courtroom.

For 63 years, through thick and thin, National Review has fought mano a mano against hellbent liberals, on behalf of the causes espoused for decades with consequence by Bill Buckley, a vital legacy upheld today by Rich Lowry and NR’s crew of ace writers and editors.

And for the past seven years, we have been combatting a lawsuit that has morphed into a serious challenge to our (yours too!) fundamental right to free speech.

The case, Mann v. National Review, has already cost millions, and will cost plenty more, but more important than its price tag are its shuddering consequences: As the case stands now in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, juries will be permitted to rule on the validity, the rightness and wrongness, of controversial opinions. It is NR’s opinion today . . . how soon will it be yours? Can you not hear our Founding Fathers spinning in their graves, as the foundations of our Republic crack from the onslaught of Leftism? How can this not be your fight too?

We need you alongside us in this fight and in the many others that find us atop conservatism’s parapets, battling the relentless assaults of determined leftists, progressive extremists, and socialist fanatics. Critical to holding back these forces is the financial support of good people who know a strong NR is vital to our cherished ideals. We ask you to contribute to NR so that we can continue to engage and confront conservatism’s determined enemies. And prevail, in the courtroom, against the foes of the First Amendment.

As was the case with our founder, we are deeply grateful to any and all supporters.
