National Review, Inc. hasn't added a story.

We Prefer Our Socialism . . . Defeated. Help NR Combat this Menace Against Freedom!

Since its premier issue in 1955, National Review – with wisdom, wit, and determination, with blood, sweat, and passion – has been on the front lines combatting Socialism and leftist programs. The kind that America’s cultural, academic, and media elites so lustily demand and so tightly embrace.

Phooey to them. And a lot more than phooey. We mean to bloody their noses, blunt their assaults, deplete their reserves. The fight against Socialism is a fight worth having – must having! No matter its permanence.

Thanks to your generous support, it’s one we in which we’ll never waiver. We’re in the thick of it. We’re at the head of it. NR’s Spring 2019 Webathon comes amidst an effort in which National Review magazine – in two consecutive special issues – restates the case for Capitalism and against Socialism. On both, you’ll hear the echoes of promises Bill Buckley bluntly made in Volume One, Number One:

“The growth of government—the dominant social feature of this century—must be fought relentlessly.”

And this . . .

“. . . Freedom goes hand in hand with a state of political decentralization, that remote government is irresponsible government.”

These aren’t bon mots or bromides. They are calls to action. They were true in 1955, they are true in 2019,  and they’ll remain true in 2020, 2025, and 2055. Far off yes, but those who eventually grab the National Review baton will know, as we do, that their missions and cause (yours too!) is permanent. The fight (ditto: yours!) never ends. And the fight must be fought.

And this too: National Review is uniquely up to that fight, but how well we fight is dependent on your moral and material support. Without you at our side in the foxhole, or atop the rampart, or feeding the ammo . . .  well, we know that is not going to happen.

Our conservative beliefs are dependent on this commitment, so please give generously to NR’s 2019 Spring Webathon. Our goal is to raise $150,000 by June 1 (but truth be told, our need is double that, and then some, and a lot of “some”). We cannot express adequately the depth of our gratitude for your contribution, your camaraderie, your selflessness, but be assured, it appreciation is incredibly real.
