My name is James Pierce, Jr and I would like the honor of serving the citizens of Copperas Cove for one more term. Over the last three years, I have helped the parks improve and several business' come to our city but there is more to be done for us.

My name is James A Pierce Jr and I am running for re-election as a city councilman, in Copperas Cove. I was elected in 2015 and has been the only time I have held elected office. I would like the honor if you choose to serve one more term on the city council.

I will continue to do my best to represent it in the most efficient and responsible way. I bring a fresh face and ideas to represent our city, if re-elected. I am an experienced business owner and interact with my customers on a daily basis. I am native to Texas and chose to retire here after the Army. I am married to Anne Pierce and we have three daughters. We are always discussing ways to improve our great community.

I am the currently the council liaison for the Quality of Life Board and the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation (EDC), I coached girl’s 12U softball for five seasons and two seasons of 12U soccer, head usher at Victory Baptist Church for the last six years. I served almost 25 years in the Army and retired as a SFC (Cable Installer, Team Chief during the Gulf War, Section Chief, Recruiter, Communications NCO, Communications Instructor, Communications NCO for the WHCA, Communications Advisor in Iraq, BN S3 NCO in Afghanistan, Platoon Sergeant, BA in History from the University of Maryland University College.

Some of the goals I have while serving would be to strive to bring more business to Copperas Cove. We need to ensure that we continue to improve all the parks and City Park. How do we bring and keep families here if there is not an attractive place to take the family after a hard day on duty at Ft Hood or do we just let them go to Killeen and spend their money. We need to continue to try to keep our property taxes as low as possible and cut unnecessary spending, this would allow us to allocate money to other areas of the city that need work.

I will look out for the interests of our citizens, first and foremost. The attempt to place median throughout the city is not in the interest of our citizens. We just need to ask them and not assume. I also believe in term limits. You should only be able to serve 2 terms as a council person, period!

We need better and higher paying jobs for our citizens. It is nice that we have all these fast food business’ in Copperas Cove, but at the same time higher skilled businesses tend to pay better. I will do my best to continue to foster an environment to accomplish this.
