I'm running for Burlingame City Council to limit government overreach, improve public safety, and solve neglected problems around town.

With a background in public finance, I have the experience to address the challenges facing Burlingame head-on.

There are a host of issues facing Burlingame:

  • The State of California is seeking to invalidate local zoning laws and force high-density development in our residential neighborhoods.
  • Nearly 300 reported incidents of property crime were recorded in the first six months of the year, including break-ins at the Apple Store, Philz Coffee, and the Sunglass Hut on Burlingame Avenue.
  • Roads have been neglected for years - particularly El Camino Real - where miles of potholes and breaks in the concrete cause damage to vehicles.
  • The City itself admits that the budget is not sustainable over the long-term. Over $700 million of unfunded projects around town are currently in the City's pipeline. The City already owes over $200 million in obligated liabilities.

As a Councilmember, I will:

  • Push back against Sacramento's overreach with a legal reserve fund that would only activate if Sacramento tries to force unwanted development in Burlingame neighborhoods.
  • Work with the Burlingame Police Department to determine what resources are necessary to tame the spike in crime.
  • Prioritize fixing neglected problems around town. The City is building an unfunded $50 million Community Center before repairing El Camino Real. The City should not be signing up for new unfunded projects before necessary upkeep of current infrastructure.
  • Focus on fiscal sustainability by proposing long-term financial planning.
