I am excited to announce my candidacy for the ROISD School Board Trustee Place 5.

Candee, my wife of 25 years and I along with our children have lived in Red Oak for almost 13 years.

Our son, Alex, is a sophomore at ROHS and daughter, Townley, is a 7th grader at ROMS. They have been part of ROISD since Kindergarten. In fact, it was knowing that ROISD was such a strong district that played a key role in our relocation from Waxahachie to Red Oak.

For over 7 years I was involved with the Red Oak Soccer Association as a parent, coach, commissioner and Board Member. This great organization serves upward of 500 youth players. Many of the wonderful teachers in our district are parents and/or coaches of these players. It was a great honor to serve as a coach and a member of the board of directors.

In addition to attending class parties, awards days, Thanksgiving lunches, track meets and soccer matches, my involvement in the district also includes 5 years on the Site Based Committee at Red Oak Elementary, 1 year in the Community Ambassador Program and most recently the Growth Management Committee. My wife has served as a room mom, PTA member, and treasurer, and is currently on the ROHS Cross Country Booster Club Board.

I serve as the Dean of Academic Services at SAGU where I have held various other positions in the past 23 years. Needless to say, I’m passionate about education. The current landscape of our education system is complex and there are challenges, but exciting advances in areas like technology continue to personalize education for each student. We must continue to ensure that our teachers are equipped and empowered to operate at optimum levels. It is critical that our kids and grandkids be equipped for the opportunities in their future.

Over the last few months, many of you have encouraged me to run. Now, I humbly ask for your vote and that you encourage others to get involved.
